‘Til I Say So — Barley Passable Release Party

On Saturday January 21st, we at SUBCULTURE? in collaboration with Sydney-Indie Electronica Duo Barley Passable, ran an event at Goodspace Gallery (Above The Lord Gladdy) for the Premiere of ‘Til I Say So (ft Betty) music video.

A collective event with a number of local artists and designers like Camille Ormandy-Olsen, Qurated, Florian, Josephine and James Dryden all showcasing their own work, beside an interactive space with props and images taken from the filming of the ‘Til I Say So music video set.

Local Sydney gin providers Archie Rose sponsored the evening, and set up their own bar of classic canned mixed drinks for all the punters rolling through.

The doors opened around 6pm, with friends and family rolling in from the street and heading straight to the bar. It was pouring with rain outside (We can’t blame them). With drinks in hands, and Barley Passable’s playlist playing in the background, everybody got comfortable. There was berets to try on, and take your own film photos in, there was perfume to spritz yourself with and an incredible looped visual playing off the projector on the wall.

From 7:30pm, most of the people that caught an RSVP hand landed and were ready for the premiere of the music video. The video was shot over 2 days in Sydney back in October, and the film crew did an incredible job. The room was full of friends, family members, fans of the band and even caught a few Triple J hosts in the crowd.

After the video played, the crowd cheered (one more time, one more time) although the video was officially released for all to view at their own time. Davey and Kai thanked their team, thanked the crowd and thanked all their friends and family for the support on this video, and thus far in their careers, then it was Barley Passable DJ set, followed by Florian to close out the night.

This won’t be the last activation that you will see from Barley Passable, as they have some ideas in the work with SUBCULTURE? AGENCY.
