We caught up with Sydney Hyperpop collective Glass Boys & Melbourne-Industrial Alt Rapper glu to chat all things "Nike" in this exclusive interview about their new collab track #justdoit
“Nike On My Shoes" is a track that we initially recorded in early 2020, It's a pretty indulgent glass boys song from the start, the track reflects doing things for maximum pleasure… without doubting yourself…… (or as some well-known shoe companies might say… just do it?) ㋡
The final piece of this track was kid glu, or glu, who briefly popped into our marrickville studio during his 2021 visit to Sydney. We were keen for him to hop on "Nike' and finish the song. The collaboration process was fresh and definitely moulded the song within a clear production style and energy. We couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all! Oh yea and then we shot a pretty eets video when we were down in melbourne - where none of us wear nikes :) - Glass Boys
THE INTERVIEW
Hey Glass Boys + glu, How are you today?
GB: Pretty good ay, another day, another dollar. Nike on my shoes is out so what’s not to be happy about.
Glu: Happy. Tired.
Where are you all writing this from?
GB: Currently in ar1zona’s garage studio, kicking back - Hopefully gonna record some new stuff after this.
Glu: Penthouse.
“nike on my shoes” just dropped last week, how's the response been?
GB: Pretty good. We’ve loved this one from the start and think people are gonna remember this unique sound (hopefully)… But yeah, so far, so good.
Glu: It’s pretty dope, for real I'm just happy the shit turned out so well and to release music with the bros.
How did that colab come together?
GB: We found out about Glu through IG and then met up with him for the first time mid-2022 when he was in Sydney for a few days. Felt like there was good synergy immediately and now here we are a song and video later.
Glu: We linked in sydney a while back, just vibed real well n made a few things til something clicked. Nike was the first one that really worked.
Any more songs in the vault together?
GB: Not yet, concepts and ideas but yet to get in the studio. Good things will come no doubt.
Glu: There’s some… idk if they’ll stay locked up or not…
Can we see you perform at Nike in the near future?
GB: For sure. Who’s booking GB x GLU for a show? Would be mental.
Glu: We got nuthin planned, but shit come out to our shows you might catch something
What is the song about? I read in your quote that none of you wear Nike's! Diss Track?
GB: Hahaha yeah none of us were wearing. them in the video which was funny. We didn’t even think to bring any nike’s down in our luggage so we literally couldn’t. But nah, love to Nike’s though <3 Love to all sneakers.
Glu: Nah no hate on nike. All love. I’m waiting on that brand deal. I love Nike. Please give me free kicks.
How'd the video come together?
GB: We were down in Melb for a few days in Dec for this Rudebaby show we were playing at Tote Hotel and were like yo lets shoot a video. First day went so well so we shot a few more things the next day to finish it up. So happy with it and how it turned out.
Glu: Boys were down in melbs for a rude baby ting and we did it all pretty spur of the moment.
What's the rest of year look like for both of you
GB: Releasing music ideally. Got a few singles we want to get out within the next two months and then hopefully drop our first album midyear. Really fuggin excited if we can manage it all.
Glu: Crazy.
What are you listening to atm, that we should get around?

Glu: I been bumping TV white noise and rain sounds heavy.
