Kim Deal - Nobody Loves You More (Album Review) via 4AD
The album Nobody Loves You More has been years in the making, with its earliest tracks written and recorded in 2011, shortly after Deal’s tour with the Pixies. The final song, “A Good Time Pushed,” was completed in late 2022, produced in collaboration with the late Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago.
The album also draws on contributions from both past and current members of The Breeders, as well as Fay Milton and Ayse Hassan of Savages, Raymond McGinley of Teenage Fanclub, and Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs.
Over the years, Kim Deal has released a series of singles between 2013 and 2014 and is best known for her role in two of the most influential bands of the ‘80s and ‘90s: The Pixies (1986–1993) and as the frontwoman of The Breeders. Now, in 2024, she is set to release her long-awaited full-length album Nobody Loves You More on November 22nd.
Deal has also produced records for Guided By Voices, collaborated vocally with Sonic Youth, and built a legacy of distinctive work across the indie and alternative music scenes. Given her extensive career, some might wonder: why a full-length album now?

THE SMILE - CUTOUTS (ALBUM REVIEW) VIA XL RECORDINGS/REMOTE CONTROL
One of the most interesting aspects of 'Cutouts' is how quickly it follows 'Wall of Eyes'. It’s the first time Yorke and Greenwood have released two albums in the same year since Kid A and Amnesiac. Maybe these projects needed to breathe separately, or maybe this quick-fire release pattern is how they’re embracing the moment.
Either way, the parallels between these albums are hard to ignore.
JAMIE XX - IN WAVES (REVIEW) VIA XL RECORDINGS/REMOTE CONTROL
Nine years after the release of his Grammy, Brit, Ivor Novello, and Mercury Music Prize-nominated debut album In Colour, Jamie is set to deliver his next chapter with In Waves. Spanning 12 tracks, this new album captures the emotional highs and dynamic energy of a near-mystical night out, featuring collaborations with The Avalanches, Honey Dijon, Robyn, Kelsey Lu, John Glacier, Panda Bear, Oona Doherty, and his The xx bandmate, Romy and long-time colaborator Oliver Sim.
Crafted over four years, marked by personal reflection, a global pandemic, a return to nightlife, and a newfound love of surfing as a form of escape, In Waves is poised to surpass the acclaim of its predecessor.
In Waves, the highly anticipated 12-track album from Jamie xx, features standout singles like "Treat Each Other Right," "Baddy on the Floor" (ft. Honey Dijon), "Life" (ft. Robyn), "All The Children" (ft. The Avalanches), and "Daffodil" (ft. Kelsey Lu, Panda Bear, and John Glacier). These tracks have already set the bar high, showcasing the English producer's signature sound.
I've enjoyed most of the singles from this album, which fans have been waiting over a decade for. Stay tuned as I dive deeper into my full review—special thanks to XL and Remote Control Records!

10 Years in the Making - Interview with Jordan from La Dispute on their ‘Rooms Of The House’ World Tour
It's not often you get the chance to interview a band that has been incredibly impactful for over a decade, not just for you but for many people who grew up with their music during crucial developmental years. For me, La Dispute was a gateway band during my time in the USA. Back then, I was playing in Emo and Indie bands, later joining a touring band heavily influenced by the sounds of Modest Mouse and mewithoutYou. My journey led me to discover La Dispute and their records 'Here, Hear Vol III', 'Somewhere At The Bottom of The River, Between Vega and Altair', and 'Wildlife'. I had the privilege of seeing them perform in various countries, from Toronto with Touché Amoré to an abandoned, burnt-out house in Wollongong.
