Central Coast Bands We're Frothing Over Like A Well Made Cappuccino From Flour & Co.

SUBCULTURE? launched in January 2023, and since then we have been exposed to so many great musicians, productions, artists, creatives and bands from our community on the Central Coast of NSW. So we thought we’d do a blog about all the incredible ones that we think you should get behind, and check out their music.

This blog series will be broken into 4 separate parts showcasing artists, and bands from the Central Coast, their influences, and a little bit about themselves, and their live shows.

2. The Big Drive

Meet Darcy Sharman and Billy Crick, the talented duo behind The Big Drive, an alternative pop/rock band hailing from the Central Coast. I discovered their music through a mutual friend and was immediately hooked by their LA-pop infused jangle rock sound, which draws inspiration from The 1975, Sam Fender, and Harry Styles. The Big Drive is based across Killarney Vale to Tuggerah areas of The Central Coast, so be sure to catch them live if you're in the neighborhood.

For Fans of The 1975, Del Gap Water, HNNY, Pacific Avenue, Dr Dog, Spacey Jane

3. Muzzle

Grunge Rockers Muzzle are a young band from the central coast playing heavy music taking inspiration from bands like Queens Of The Stone Age, Violent Soho and The Pixies. As a band we all bring different influences into our own songs and when writing them we try not to stay in just one genre but instead explore more sounds that are not always like the other songs we write

For Fans of The Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana (In-Utreo era), Early QOTSA, and The Pixes

4. The Moving Stills

With their infectious surf-inspired riffs, 80's New York garage vibes, and catchy pop melodies that make you bop your head, this band has the power to brighten up anyone's day. Hailing from McMasters Beach, NSW, they're definitely worth checking out if you can catch them live. Catch them on tour with Teenage Dads in the coming months.

5. Stupid Baby

STUPID BABY is three long-time friends Jake Dobson, Eli Milojkovic and Will Glencross. Taking cues from the likes of Parquet Courts, Ceremony and The Melvins, STUPID BABY are an intense and thought-provoking slice of sophisticated post-punk, with immediacy and unwavering consistency. After starting in 2019, the band have toured and shared stages with the likes of The Chats, Pist Idiots, Skeggs, Ocean Alley, Polish Club and WAAX. Will they ever go on tour, will they ever release a record. Nobody really knows, but they will rip your head off next time you catch them live.
