Video Premiere: Del-Slackers Drop Their Music Video For “Will You Go Out With Me?” Paying Homage To The ABC Program “Recovery”

Emerging from the vibrant music scene of Sydney, Del-Slackers, a dynamic trio in the realm of pop-punk, is on the brink of making an indelible mark. Their music emanates a captivating fusion of youthful defiance and contagious vitality, hinting at their readiness to electrify the music landscape. Rooted in the unrefined vigor of 90s punk bands, they ingeniously meld in a contemporary essence, resulting in a nostalgic voyage that strikes a chord with both longstanding admirers and new enthusiasts.

Unveiling their inaugural single from the highly awaited EP, "Will You Go Out With Me," Del-Slackers celebrates a noteworthy juncture, spotlighting their journey from inception to the present. With irresistible tunes that cling to the mind, irresistible hooks that command attention, and a rugged demeanor that sustains engagement from commencement to closure, the song becomes a quintessential embodiment of their unique sonic identity.

The track authentically captures the universal narrative of facing rejection and the apprehension of taking a decisive step, establishing a strong connection with listeners due to its reliability. Del-Slackers' adeptness in channeling the sentiments of their audience distinguishes them and establishes them as a potent presence within the domain of pop punk, demanding recognition and respect.

The music video for "Will You Go Out With Me?" serves as a heartfelt tribute to ABC's iconic 90s program, 'Recovery,' helmed by the charismatic Dylan Lewis (Recovery/Double J). Every meticulous detail in the video aims to encapsulate the true essence of the 90s era – from the instantly recognizable set design to the deliberately over-saturated and vibrant color palette that defines the visual style. For an unparalleled wave of nostalgia, we wholeheartedly suggest immersing yourself in the experience by watching it on a vintage CRT TV, all while savoring a bowl of the classic Coco Pops cereal.

Harking back to a cherished period, 'Recovery' was a cornerstone of Australian music and youth culture television, brought to life by its broadcast on ABC TV. Occupying the coveted Saturday morning slot from 9 am to 12 pm, just following the late-night video clip showcase 'Rage,' the show aired its magnetic content from April 20, 1996, through April 29, 2000. Originating from ABC's dynamic Ripponlea studios in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 'Recovery' was an electrifying live production that boasted a medley of live musical performances, trendsetting music videos, pertinent segments delving into youth pop culture, and sidesplitting comedy sketches.

“We wanted to do something that was a late 90s-early 2000s throwback for the video clip and began going down the rabbit hole of watching all the bands that played on Recovery. Being massive fans of blink-182, Frenzal Rhomb and The Living End, we wanted to put together a clip that resembled us playing on the Recovery stage on a Saturday morning. To help make it as true y2k as possible, we reached out to the show's former host, Dylan Lewis, who was super keen on the idea. Through email, Dylan agreed to join us in crafting an introduction, mirroring the legendary intros of classic performances. We filmed the performance segment in a Sydney warehouse, and then flew to Melbourne to capture the concluding interview with Dylan Lewis’. - Jack Isaccs (Del-Slackers)
